Last month in an interview with Men’s Fitness, Liam Hemsworth revealed that he recently adopted a vegan diet. For the last six months, the Hunger Games star has been eating exclusively plant-based foods, and has only good things to say about it!
Inspired by his Hunger Games co-star, Woody Harrelson, who’s been vegan for decades, Liam decided to try something new when he realized that the more red meat he ate, the worse he felt.
“So, with the facts I was gathering, and then just how I was physically feeling, I felt like I had to do something different, so I adopted this vegan-diet lifestyle.”
Even though Liam’s only switched to a plant-based diet in the last few months, he’s constantly getting the age-old question about getting enough protein and feeling tired. He said finds those questions more confusing than anything – plant-based eaters know it’s all about eating a variety of protein-rich veggies, and protein-packed meatless main dishes (like gardein!)Liam’s got no worries about getting the nutrients he needs, and feels that his new lifestyle had a “domino effect” on his life.
“There are no negatives to eating like this. I feel nothing but positive, mentally and physically. I love it.”
His decision to eat plant-based foods may be spreading to the rest of his family too, including his superhero brother, Chris, who’s “adapting … to eating more vegetables and more plant-based stuff.” Maybe it’ll be a vegetarian holiday meal at the Hemsworth house this year!
